Germany allocates €3M for UNIDO project to devel Ukraine’s industrial potential

The Government of Germany and the United Nations Industrial Develment Organization (UNIDO) signed an agreement on Germany’s €3 million contribution to the project "Develment of industrial potential, picy and diagnostics for green recovery of Ukraine".

"Ukraine is grateful to Germany for the contribution of €3 million to finance the UNIDO project. We should start rebuilding Ukraine right now, without waiting for the end of Russia's war of aggression against our country," Yevhenii Tsymbaliuk, Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the International Organizations in Vienna, td Ukrinform, commenting on the signing of the agreement in Vienna on Friday.

The signing ceremony was attended by Fatou Haidara, Deputy to the UNIDO Director General, permanent representatives of Ukraine and Germany, as well as the Organization's secretariat staff.

According to Tsymbaliuk, many countries have already declared their readiness to provide financial support for the reconstruction and restoration of energy, transport infrastructure, and industrial facilities damaged or completely destroyed as a result of Russian attacks.

The UNIDO project provides for conducting research and diagnostics in industry, preparing recommendations for possible improvement and planning, in particular in the areas of energy efficiency, circular economy, green energy, improvement of quality standards, etc.

The project will help identify the necessary technogies that will be used during reconstruction and will become the basis for the future global UNIDO Program for green recovery and post-war construction for inclusive and sustainable industrial develment in Ukraine.

As reported, Jochen Flasbarth, State Secretary in the German Federal Ministry for Economic Coeration and Develment, German Federal Government's Commissioner for the Reconstruction of Ukraine, said that in its efforts for the reconstruction of Ukraine, Germany focuses not on certain regions or sectors of the economy but on the priorities of the Ukrainian government and the reconstruction of destroyed infrastructure, taking into account the fact that it will later become part of the Eurean one.
