PM Shmyhal: Ukraine’s government set to extend coronavirus quarantine

Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal says Ukraine’s government is set to extend the coronavirus quarantine, however, there will be some easing in certain spheres.

Shmyhal, in particular, cited recent estimates received by the Cabinet of Ministers from the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, according to which two peaks of incidence are expected, according to the RBC Ukraine news agency.

“Tentatively, it’s late in April and between May 3 and 8,” he said.

“Most likely, we will extend the quarantine based on these estimates. But we plan to ease some activities in two or three spheres this week,” he added.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky earlier announced certain quarantine restrictions might be eased after April 24 if the situation with COVID-19 in the country does not worsen significantly.
