Audience trust, verified information, work in wartime, and the development of a hyperlocal network — that was 2025 for the local teams of Suspilny.
Summing up the year of information broadcasting, Alla Skoryk , Director of the Regional Content Department, emphasized:
“This year has been difficult for us – both in terms of media and security. The retreat from Kurshchyna, the threat of an offensive on Sumy, attacks on branches in Zaporizhia, Dnipro, Kherson. As a result of the attack on the Suspilne Dnipro office, the building burned down, property was destroyed, but most importantly – no people were injured. Preserving the life and health of the team is an absolute value for us.”
Alla Skoryk noted that despite all the challenges — destruction, blackouts, and security risks — none of the teams stopped and continued to work.
“We feel the audience’s trust and that they are staying with us. This is confirmed by the numbers. All regions have recorded growth on all platforms: the number of subscribers and unique users on the Suspilne Noviny website has increased, and our YouTube channels have grown. We are aware of our responsibility for this trust and are ready to work further ,” she added.

Hyperlocal network
In 2025, the Suspilny network was expanded with about 50 hyperlocal correspondents in communities in 12 regions. Teams were strengthened in Kharkiv, Chernihiv, and Sumy — regions where local news is of particular importance.
Project Manager of Suspilny Yevgeniya Gaifer notes:
” We conducted a large-scale campaign to search, select, and employ correspondents in communities, which allowed us to significantly strengthen our presence in remote settlements. In total, this year we visited 84 communities in 12 regions.
Today, hyperlocal correspondents are already working in their communities and regularly creating content focused on the needs of local audiences.
“They react faster to events, better understand the local context, and raise topics that are important specifically for the residents of these communities,” says Yevgenia Gaifer.
The Suspilny project manager also mentioned the online training course for hyperlocal correspondents and the fact that more than 500 people interested in working at Suspilny took it.
“The course is now open to all interested parties, and in just the first two weeks, over 700 people have registered to learn basic practical journalism skills. At the same time, we have created opportunities for training and exchange of experience for hyperlocal branch editors — in particular, with the support of Swedish partners, we organized training in Sweden and several workshops in Budapest ,” shared Yevgenia Gaifer .

Key themes of the year
Local teams worked on the most sensitive topics: mobilization, border hostilities, emergencies, and trials. A separate block was the war: prisoner exchanges, return of bodies of the dead, evidence of torture, and shelling of civilian cities.
Digital and documentary
As of December 15, 2025, the digital pages of the branches have over 10.5 million subscribers , and the local pages of the Suspilne Noviny website have recorded over 64 million users (in total, including recurring unique users during this period).
14 local channels received silver YouTube buttons this year.
Two documentary projects by Suspilne Chernihiv have collected over a million views each: “Krasnoyartsev: Downed Pilot” — over 1.3 million views, “Senezh: Operation “Revenge”” — over 1.1 million views.
Andriy Titok , editor-in-chief of the northeastern hub of Suspilne and Suspilne Chernihiv, said:
“For the first time in one year, we have made two million-dollar documentary projects. For us as a team, this is a very important achievement and an absolute credit to our team — motivated to become better every day and not stop there. These numbers show that even a relatively small regional branch, a regional media outlet, can produce important stories and investigations that are of interest not only to the whole of Ukraine, but also abroad.”
He notes that analytics of views on YouTube indicate that more than 10% of viewers watched the million-dollar films Suspilne Chernihiv in Russia. And this figure is also encouraging.
“I’m not sure that many large national media outlets have achieved the same successes and indicators in documentary this year. After all, every year it becomes more and more difficult to make documentary stories that many, many people watch ,” says Andriy Titok .

Special projects, investigations and broadcasts
During the year, the branches implemented 25 special projects on various topics — from historical and cultural to documentary and investigative. The most important were the “PRO Crimea” series and the “Memory/Hatıra” project — with voices from the occupied Crimea.
In 2025, a separate area of work was environmental investigations, which local teams of Suspilne implemented for the first time in cooperation with third-party productions. After training in investigative journalism, Suspilne announced an artistic competition and selected four productions that produced materials together with regional editorial offices. The first investigations have already been published on the Suspilne Lviv, Suspilne Kherson and Suspilne Cherkasy platforms, with another part scheduled for publication in 2026.
The teams also worked live during key events — from protests in support of the SAPO and NABU to the elimination of the consequences of shelling and major cultural events in the regions.
Infrastructure
In 2025, a modernized Suspilny office was opened in Khmelnytskyi. The new premises were designed and equipped based on the Suspilny guide, which contains recommendations on brand style and modern technical solutions. The same modern office is planned to be equipped in Vinnytsia, where renovation work is currently underway. The main requirements for Suspilny spaces in all branches are inclusiveness, comfort, durability of stylistic solutions, and openness.
