Wanted $36,000 for removal from military registration: ex-official to be tried in Kyiv

A former official of a state authority will go on trial in Kyiv. He is suspected of promising to help a conscript avoid mobilization for money.

This was reported by the press service of the Main Directorate of the National Police of Kyiv.

It is noted that the police exposed the suspect last fall. During the investigation, law enforcement officers established that the suspect promised the conscript to “resolve the issue” of being removed from military service.

The suspect said that he had influence over officials of one of the capital's CCCs and joint ventures. He estimated his “services” at $36,000.

Law enforcement officers detained a man while receiving money. He was informed of suspicion under Part 2 of Art. 369-2 Obtaining an unlawful benefit for oneself for influencing a decision-making by a person authorized to perform state functions of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and the case has now been referred to court. The sanction of the article provides for up to 5 years of imprisonment.

Other cases related to mobilization violations

Law enforcement officers in Kyiv and the region regularly report uncovering schemes to evade mobilization. In particular, in the capital, a citizen was detained and reported on suspicion, suspected of several offenses – aiding in illegal evasion of mobilization and influencing court decisions.

The Kyiv police also spoke about the suspicion of bribery of a 41-year-old resident of the Kyiv region, the head of a public organization. According to the investigation, for 10 thousand US dollars she promised men to “resolve the issue” of unfitness for military service.

The Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office has reported suspicions to three doctors from the specialized institutes of cardiology and pulmonology of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine. They are accused of taking bribes for helping to avoid mobilization.

Even in the capital, suspicions were announced against a father and son: according to the investigation, the suspects offered the man a number of services for money: from removal from the wanted list to illegal departure from the country.

The Bila Tserkva District Prosecutor's Office of the Kyiv Region suspects a 68-year-old man. He is accused of organizing a scheme to illegally smuggle men liable for military service across the state border of Ukraine.
