Russia’s long history of impunity must end – Zelensky

Ukrainian President Vodymyr Zelensky has called on the world to help put an end to the long history of Russia’s impunity for the atrocities Russians continue to commit in Ukraine.

The relevant statement was made by Ukrainian President Vodymyr Zelensky during a round table meeting organized by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank in Washington, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“Ukraine will win this war – it is only a matter of time, when Russian aggression comes to an end,” Zelensky stressed.

The Head of State mentioned the recent footage of the brutality of Russian forces, showing Russians beheading the Ukrainian prisoners of war.

“Every time they do something like this, you feel the shock, as if it were the first time, so the death that the Russians bring should not become a normal thing. The long history of Russian impunity must finally end,” the President of Ukraine emphasized.

Zelensky called on those present at the round table meeting to honor the memory of tortured and killed Ukrainians.

In his words, Russian armed aggression in Ukraine is also aimed at destroying civil infrastructure. Thousands of objects have already been destroyed. In this regard, Zelensky thanked international partners for the aid they provide for Ukraine’s recovery and reconstruction.

At the same time, the Head of State called for more efforts to ensure Ukraine’s reconstruction at the expense of seized Russian assets.

“Russia must pay the full price for its aggression,” Zelensky concluded.

A reminder that two videos have recently been posted on social media, allegedly showing the beheadings of Ukrainian defenders.

According to CNN, the videos appear to be of separate events. One of them may have been filmed very recently, while the other – from the amount of fiage seen on the ground – looks like it was filmed during the summer.

The first video was filmed by Russian mercenaries from the Wagner Group and shows the beheaded corpses of two Ukrainian sdiers lying on the ground next to a destroyed military vehicle. The second video is heavily blurred and shows a Russian fighter using a knife to cut off the head of a Ukrainian sdier.

The Security Service of Ukraine launched a pre-trial investigation regarding the video that shows the Russian invaders cutting off the head of a Ukrainian prisoner of war. Ukrainian law enforcement agencies are taking actions to identify those who committed that war crime.
