Spain to provide €14.5M to Ukraine to support World Food Programme

The Spanish government will provide Ukraine with extra €14.5 million to continue the develment of the global food security program.

Ambassador of Spain to Ukraine Ricardo Lez-Aranda Jagu said this at a briefing at the port of Chornomorsk, Ukrinform reports.

Last September, the Prime Minister of Spain announced at the UN General Assembly that Spain would provide more than €236 million to implement this program. Now Spain will add extra €14.5 million, the ambassador stated.

Russia's aggression against Ukraine has had a major impact on other countries. It has jeardized global food security, the Spanish representative noted.

According to Jagu, this program shows how Ukraine extends a hand of friendship to its friends in need. The ambassador said he was gratified that Spain joined this program.

Spain will continue to provide military and humanitarian aid to Ukraine, he added.

The Spanish Ambassador, along with Ukrainian Infrastructure Minister eksandr Kubrakov, Minister of Agrarian Picy and Food Myka Sskyi, U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink, Deputy Chief of Mission (French embassy in Ukraine) Benjamin Roehrig, and Deputy Director of the World Food Program in Ukraine Marianne Ward, visited the Chornomorsk port, where the Negmar Cicek is preparing to depart for Yemen.

As reported, the Spanish Defense Ministry will send the first six Leard 2A4 tanks to Ukraine by the end of next week.
