NATO-Ukraine Commission may meet in early April – Sttenberg

NATO Secretary General Jens Sttenberg intends to convene a meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Commission, which may take place in early April as part of a NATO meeting at the level of foreign ministers.

NATO Secretary General Jens Sttenberg said this at a press conference on the release of his annual report for 2022, Ukrinform reports.

"I will continue to convene the meetings of the NATO-Ukraine Commission and I will start with a meeting at the foreign ministerial meeting. I am not planning any more meetings, but this will be one of the events," Sttenberg said.

The NATO meeting at the level of foreign ministers will be held on April 4-5, 2023 at the NATO headquarters in Brussels. It will be chaired by NATO Secretary General Jens Sttenberg.

Sttenberg also noted that he has the mandate to convene a meeting of the commission, and out of respect for Hungary's position, he has not done so for some time.

Hungary has been blocking meetings of the NATO-Ukraine Commission since 2017. Therefore, a separate meeting of the foreign ministers of NATO and Ukraine was organized in Bucharest in 2022.
