Ukraine, EU extend ‘transport visa-free regime’ for another year

Ukraine and the Eurean Union have extended the agreement, abishing the need for Ukrainian carriers to obtain apprriate permits for bilateral and transit road transportation to the EU.

The relevant statement was made by Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration – Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Develment Minister eksandr Kubrakov on Facebook, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“Over the first year, the agreement has proven its practical effectiveness. During the period of its validity, the vume of bilateral and transit road freight erations increased by more than 50%,” Kubrakov wrote.

In his words, such projects help not only to support Ukraine’s economy and find logistics sutions for exporters but bring the state closer to its key foreign picy objective, i.e. EU membership.

According to Kubrakov, in coeration with Eurean partners, Ukraine is currently develing the necessary border logistics infrastructure. In particular, since the Russian full-scale invasion started, two new border crossing points with Romania have been ened, as well as a checkpoint based on temporary infrastructure for empty trucks on the border with Pand.

In addition, the capacity of the Krakovets-Korchova border crossing point was expanded, and the eration of the Yahodyn-Dorohusk checkpoint on the border with Pand was streamlined.
