Ukraine hopes to complete negotiations with IMF mission by weekend, get good news early next week – NBU governor

Ukraine hopes to complete negotiations with the mission of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on a new full-fledged support program, involving financing from the Fund, by the end of this week, Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) Andriy Pyshnyy has said.

"The NBU team has fully implemented the entire program with which it began its participation in the IMF mission. We have managed to achieve substantial progress in our agreements, in coordinating policies, and we are optimistic about the next few days, during which negotiations will take place, the coordination of some details online," Pyshnyy said at a press briefing on Thursday.

He said that the IMF representatives "should complete part of their tasks in Washington, respectively, the Ukrainian team will be ready to conduct and continue these consultations online from Kyiv."

"We hope to finalize our work this week and believe in good news at the beginning of the next one," he said.

The day before, the IMF said that the mission led by Gavin Gray noted progress following policy discussions with the Ukrainian authorities in Warsaw from March 8 to March 15 on a possible new program supported by the fund but noted the need to continue them in the coming days.
