Germany increases environmental protection, climate picy support for Ukraine
The relevant statement was made by the Ukrainian Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Ministry, flowing a meeting between the Ukrainian delegation and German partners in Berlin, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“EUR 44.5 million – this is the total budget of technical assistance projects to be implemented in Ukraine under the International Climate Initiative. These are both new projects and those that were planned to be launched before the war or were temporarily suspended when the hostilities started,” the report states.
According to the ministry, these projects will cover, in particular, support for Ukraine in implementing the Paris Agreement and adapting to the effects of climate change in the Black Sea region, as well as establishing an emissions trading system.
Additionally, the projects provide for the implementation of the best available technogies and management practices, the develment of a low-emissions picy, the preservation of d-growth forests in the Carpathians, and the enhancement of Ukraine’s ability to overcome the consequences of the war and integrate into the EU.
