What kind of loan can an individual entrepreneur take?

It is no wonder that the volume of net hryvnia loans to businesses increased intensively throughout 2025, according to a review by the National Bank. For more information about available loan programs, read the material.

The main component of the business' hryvnia portfolio remains SME loans, which are growing by more than a third per year.

Ukrainian banks continue to actively support the development of small and medium-sized enterprises, providing a wide range of financial services, writes Diya.Business. In particular, we are talking about loans for:

  • replenishment of working capital:
  • project implementation and modernization;
  • refinancing of previously obtained loans.

In addition, banks offer guarantees, subsidies, foreign exchange services, liquidity management, operations with smart money and other financial instruments, as well as advisory services on financial planning and risk management.

As a reminder, in an exclusive commentary by Channel 24, Director of Risk Management and Member of the Board of Globus Bank Olena Yermolova said that the potential possibility of reducing the National Bank's discount rate to 13.5 – 14% by the end of 2026 could have a positive impact on borrowers' ability to service their debts.

What are the preferential lending programs?

The program “Affordable Loans 5 – 7 – 9%” is a component of the development policy of Ukrainian producers and is aimed at stimulating micro, small and medium-sized businesses. Within its framework, the state compensates for part of the interest rate. The loan is provided for the purpose of:

  • acquisition or modernization of fixed assets by a business entity;
  • acquisition of non-residential real estate, land plots;
  • construction, reconstruction, and repair of non-residential premises;
  • acquisition of intellectual property rights;
  • implementation of energy efficiency measures, etc.

Please note! At the meeting on January 28, the Cabinet of Ministers increased the maximum amount of an investment loan for energy independence of businesses to 250 million hryvnias.

What is worth knowing about state grants?

  • Recall that in 2026, the state extended the grant program for businesses. Entrepreneurs can receive up to 1 million hryvnia for equipment, raw materials, rent, marketing, and advertising.

  • You can submit an application along with a business plan on the Diya portal, and then you will need to go through an interview at the employment center.
