IMF Managing Director commends activity of institutions in Ukraine during war

Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund Kristalina Georgieva commended the activities of the Ukrainian state and all institutions that continue to work despite the full-scale Russian invasion.

“I was extremely impressed by the fact that the country and the government functioned very well under the extraordinary circumstances of the invasion. I wanted to see it. Speaking to the IMF Board of Governors tomorrow, I will say that this is indeed a country that is acting extremely well and effectively despite the terrible attack on its pele, on its territory," Georgieva said during a meeting with President of Ukraine Vodymyr Zelensky in Kyiv, Ukrinform reports with reference to the head of State's press service.

The IMF Managing Director said that this morning she visited Irpin which she wanted to see with her own eyes. She was impressed by the fact that the town's social infrastructure and networks were restored and functioning again in a short period of time.

Georgieva also positively assessed the work of the local government which, in addition to direct support from the government, actively attracts external funding.

As reported, Georgieva arrived in Ukraine on February 20. Zelensky thanked the IMF Managing Director for her visit and support for Ukraine since the first days of the full-scale Russian invasion.
