Ukraine to insist on clear procedure of special tribunal for Russia – Podyak
The relevant statement was made by Advisor to the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Mykhailo Podyak during a nationwide telethon, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“We will, undoubtedly, insist on a clear procedure of a special tribunal and, I emphasize, it should be established separately and have not a national but supranational jurisdiction. Also, as part of an agreement between the countries establishing the tribunal, it should have the power to remove functional immunities from the Russian leadership,” Podyak td.
Answering the question about whether a hybrid tribunal and a special tribunal may co-exist, Podyak stressed the importance of not allowing attention to be distracted from punishing the perpetrators.
The world must see that those who started the war – Russian President Vladimir Putin, Secretary of the Security Council of Russia Nikai Patrushev, First Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Administration of Russia Sergey Kirenko, – are on trial, Podyak stressed.
Additionally, according to Podyak, it should be one and the same place, where the judicial process will be run, so that the global community’s attention is not diluted.
A reminder that Ukrainian President Vodymyr Zelensky formed a working group on the creation of a special international tribunal to bring to justice those guilty of aggression against Ukraine.
