Sultanate of Oman is one of the ten countries where Ukraine plans to en embassies this year.

"Recently, the President announced his intention to en ten new embassies in Africa… But one of them will en in a member state of the Coeration Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, namely in Sultanate of Oman," Maksym Subkh, Ukraine’s Special Representative for the Middle East and Africa, said at the scientific and methodogical seminar "Main trends in the develment of modern geitical situation in the Middle East in the context of Ukraine's foreign picy priority tasks", an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

He noted that Ukraine–Oman trade doubled in 2020-2021 while Ukraine’s exports expanded significantly. In addition, according to Ukraine’s Special Representative, Oman is a very effective mediator of various processes and negotiations taking place in the territory of Sultanate.

"The configuration of Oman's foreign picy activity is unique for this region: the country, being a member of several regional and interregional associations, maintains equal and en relations with all neighboring countries: Iran, the Gulf countries, Yemen where the situation is extremely tense, and with other countries. Therefore, with this decision, Ukraine shows that it will not ‘lag behind’ and will not present itself as a country that is only suffering from war and crying for help. Ukraine is taking steps forward," the diplomat emphasized.
