The Austrian government will allocate 14.1 million euros to Ukraine for humanitarian demining.
This was stated by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga during a joint press conference with Austrian Federal Minister for European and International Affairs Beate Meinl-Reisinger in Kyiv on February 20, a Suspilny correspondent reports.
In addition, according to Sybiga, the Ukrainian authorities will involve Austrian companies represented in Ukraine in the reconstruction.
In turn, Meinl-Reisinger stated that the Austrian government is ready to hold one of the next conferences on the reconstruction of Ukraine in Vienna.
The minister also noted that the Austrian government provided Ukraine with 3.5 million euros to overcome the energy crisis caused by Russian shelling and recalled that the EU is preparing the 20th package of sanctions against Russia.
“We have to strengthen it (the sanctions package – ed.) to put economic pressure on Russia,” Meinl-Reisinger said.
In addition, the Austrian government official emphasized that Ukraine should become a member of the European Union and Vienna supports Kyiv's membership, because, they say, the bloc's expansion is “an extremely important geopolitical tool.”
On the morning of February 20, Beate Meinl-Reisinger arrived in Kyiv on a working visit.
