Law enforcement officers suspect employees of the Darnytsia locomotive depot in Kyiv of systematically stealing fuel from diesel locomotives.
This was reported by the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office.
According to the investigation, the scheme was organized by a train driver at the Darnytsia depot, who, together with an assistant, pumped diesel fuel from diesel locomotives. He converted his car, equipping it with a pump and a fuel tank.
Railway workers pumped fuel into prepared containers and sold it to truckers at lower prices. At least 10 cases of fuel spills totaling almost 20,000 liters were documented.
Other depot employees helped them write off this fuel, increasing the amount of its costs in the documents.
Currently, the actions of the driver and his assistant have been classified under Part 4 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. They face up to 8 years in prison.
The investigation is identifying other people who helped the suspects hide the diesel fuel thefts, and is also calculating the final damages.
