Snowfall and ice in Kyiv have complicated traffic. There are traffic jams and accidents on the roads.
This was announced on February 16 by the First Deputy Head of the Patrol Police Department, Oleksiy Biloshitskyi.
According to him, as of 11 a.m. on February 16, patrol officers had received 87 calls about road accidents that had occurred in Kyiv since the beginning of the day. There were victims in three accidents.
Difficult weather conditions, precipitation, and ice increase the risk of getting into an accident. Kyiv is also mired in traffic jams and restrictions on the entry of trucks have been introduced. In particular, the capital's public media published a video showing how transport cannot pass, being helped by people who need to get to work on time.
On the eve, residents of Kyiv and the region were urged to use public transport in the morning, if possible, and to refrain from traveling by their own cars.
As we reported the day before, forecasters of the Ukrhydrometeorological Center warned of a yellow level of danger and dangerous meteorological phenomena in Kyiv and the region on February 16. The wind is mainly northwest, 7-12 m/s, but gusts of 15-20 m/s will also be observed. The temperature in the region at night and during the day is freezing: 4-9 degrees below zero. In Kyiv at night and during the day, 7-9° of frost.
