Ukraine may keep part of quarantine restrictions until September – media

Certain restrictive measures to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus could last until September, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal admits.

At the same time, citizens are expected to return to work in the second half of May, a source from the Servant of the People leading parliamentary faction told LIGA.net.

Shmyhal voiced the opinion during a meeting with deputies of the mono-majority faction. In particular, he suggested that among the restrictions set to remain will be a rule to wear face masks or respirators in public places.

As UNIAN reported earlier, as of April 7, Ukraine has registered 1,462 coronavirus cases.

The Cabinet of Ministers approved restrictive measures over the threat of COVID-19 spread. They will remain in force at least until the end of April.

All educational facilities – kindergartens, schools, and universities – were put on lockdown. A few days later, it was decided to close restaurants, cafes, cinemas, entertainment venues, sports clubs, and shops, except grocery stores. A ban was also introduced on mass events.

Also, from March 17, the Ukrainian border was closed for foreigners, while cross-border and interregional passenger services were halted.
