A male, age 43, was apprehended in Transcarpathia after he hurled a functioning grenade at the residence of an officer of the law in Vynohradiv. The blast affected the building’s front, but thankfully, nobody sustained injuries.
Agents of the law in Transcarpathia took into custody an individual who discharged a live grenade at the abode of a police official during the night of February 13. The event transpired in the city of Vynohradiv: the officer’s spouse, a pair of daughters, and parents were inside the dwelling when the explosion occurred. As determined by the inquiry, the aggressor discharged an armed grenade at the house. The detonation inflicted harm on the facade of the building and fractured windows; fortunately, the officer’s family members remained unharmed.
The authorities located the perpetrator through surveillance footage and subsequently placed him under arrest. He was discovered concealed within the attic of a private residence. The probe further ascertained that the person detained was a 43-year-old inhabitant of the village of Oleshnyk.
The individual had previously been taken into custody by law enforcement on suspicion of peddling a particularly potent controlled substance – methamphetamine – among members of the community.
Law enforcement personnel initiated criminal proceedings in accordance with Part 2 of Article 347, Part 4 of Article 296, and Part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Namely, deliberate destruction of a law enforcement officer’s property, acts of hooliganism utilizing weaponry, and unlawful possession of arms.
The accused could face a custodial sentence of up to fifteen years.
