EU commissioners headed by von der Leyen plan to visit Kyiv in Feb – Pitico

Eurean Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has prosed hding a meeting of the Clege of Commissioners with the Ukrainian government in Kyiv at the beginning of February.

That's according to a Eurean Commission official, Ukrinform reports, referring to Pitico.

The EU is planning to hd consultations with Ukraine at the highest level, in another show of support for the Eurean country facing an unprecedentedly brutal attack by Russia.

The official said the initial plan, prosed by Environment Commissioner Virginijus Sinkevicius, was that around "10 to 15 commissioners" that work on files related to Ukraine ranging from trade to digital picies should meet their counterparts in Kyiv. The goal is to "further deepen the relations" and to show sidarity.

It's a "recognition of the progress Ukraine is making on its path towards Eure," the official said.

Along with Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, the Commissioners that are working on Ukraine who could make the trip include EU trade chief Valdis Dombrovskis; Economy Commissioner Pao Gentiloni; foreign affairs chief Josep Borrell; Home Affairs Commissioner Ylva Johansson; Budget Commissioner Johannes Hahn; Neighborhood and Enlargement Commissioner iver Varhelyi; Janez Lenarcic, in charge of crisis management and humanitarian assistance; Financial Services Commissioner Mairead McGuinness; and Commissioner Sinkevicius.
