President of Ukraine Vodymyr Zelensky and First Vice-President of the Eurean Commission for the Eurean Green Deal Frans Timmermans have met in Kyiv and discussed the state of Ukraine’s energy system after Russian missile attacks, as well as the implementation of green projects as part of Ukraine’s reconstruction.

Zelensky expressed gratitude to the Eurean Commission for its significant support, having noted the personal efforts of Frans Timmermans.

The parties discussed a whe range of tical issues on the bilateral agenda, namely in the context of preparations for the EU-Ukraine Summit, which had been scheduled in Ukraine for February 3, 2023.

Zelensky briefed Timmermans on the state of Ukraine’s energy system after Russian deliberate missile attacks and the assistance required for Ukraine to pass through the winter period.

“Today, as we are defending our energy sector together with the Eurean Union, both Charles Michel, Ursula von der Leyen and other EU leaders help us, in particular by providing much-needed generators and transformers,” the President of Ukraine said.

Zelensky emphasized that, as part of reconstruction, Ukraine will focus on the implementation of green projects and is ready to become one of the Eurean modern green energy hubs.

The President of Ukraine also thanked for the initiative to launch a strategic partnership between Ukraine and the EU in the field of renewable gas.

“We have to decide what the generation in Ukraine should be, what the independent energy generation in Eure should be in the future. Because we will win this war, but the neighborhood with Russia will remain. That is why the Eurean Union must be independent of any decisions of the Russian Federation. Here, we see ourselves as a reliable partner in green energy,” Zelensky noted.

Additionally, the parties stressed the importance of further strengthening sanctions pressure on Russia, namely in the energy sector.
