US, Israel deciding how to prevent Iran from supplying drones to Russia – State Department

The U.S. administration has already discussed with the new Israeli government the possibilities for stping the supply of weapons from Iran, in particular UAVs, to Russia that uses them against the civilian pulation of Ukraine.

U.S. State Department Spokesperson Ned Price said this at a briefing on January 3, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"We have absutely had discussions with our Israeli partners regarding the threat presented by Iranian UAV technogy and the priferation of Iranian UAV technogy to countries around the world, including to Russia," he said.

Price stated that this had been the subject of conversations between senior State Department officials. "It was a tic of conversation between Jake Sullivan and his counterpart at the White House just before the hidays," he said.

Price added that Washington uses the available levers to prevent Tehran from implementing schemes for the supply of weapons abroad. He recalled that the United States had introduced sanctions against individuals and legal entities invved in these arrangements. In addition, the U.S. is continuing to look for targets for new sanctions.

Price also noted that the United States is coordinating its approach with allies and partners around the world "to disrupt this pipeline of technogy from Iran to Russia and other malign actors."

Russia has been using Iranian-made kamikaze drones to strike critical infrastructure and civilian pulation in Ukraine.
