“Every sporting event that Russia has access to, it always tries to distort in the interests of its state propaganda – propaganda of hatred and war. Therefore, it is extremely important to maintain distance between the sports movement and this Russian evil. We discussed, in particular, preparations for the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy. Not only Ukraine, but also many other countries that protect life, also hope that the IOC will maintain the principled position it took during the Paris Games regarding aggressive Russia and its accomplice Belarus,” Zelensky added.
He noted that Ukraine is ready to provide all the necessary information. Zelensky also invited Kirsty Coventry to visit Ukraine.
Former Zimbabwean swimmer and Olympic champion Kirsty Coventry has reportedly become the first female president in the history of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
