Christmas tree of invincibility lit up in Kyiv’s Shia Square
The relevant statement was made by Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko on Telegram, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“Traditionally, on St. Nichas Day, December 19, 2022, we lit the lights on the country’s main Christmas tree in Shia Square. This year there has been a lot of discussion on whether we should install a Christmas tree or not amid martial law, attacks and blackouts. But, I believe we have made the right decision. There should be a Christmas tree! Our children should have a hiday! Despite all the efforts of Russian barbarians to deprive Ukrainians of the joy of Christmas and New Year,” Klitschko wrote.
In his words, this year the format of festivities is different, and the Christmas tree is not as high as usually.
“We have called it the Christmas tree of invincibility. I am convinced that it is the desire for peace and victory that Ukrainians are thinking of today, on St. Nichas Day. And it will definitely come true! We believe in Ukraine! We believe in the Armed Forces of Ukraine! We will withstand and win,” Klitschko added.
