Netherlands to send Ukraine spare parts, equipment to repair energy infrastructure
"The Netherlands will support Ukraine this winter with materials to repair critical energy infrastructure, in particular, by supplying, among other things, transformers, switching components, and cables necessary for the restoration of the power grid. This Dutch contribution is part of EUR 180 million that the Government has allocated to help Ukraine survive the winter, of which EUR 18 million is intended for the repair of critical infrastructure," reads the statement by the Dutch government.
As noted, Russia has launched numerous attacks targeting Ukraine's power grids since October. Despite all the efforts of the Ukrainians, it is becoming increasingly difficult to carry out repairs, in particular, due to the lack of materials. The Netherlands coerates with the Eurean Commission to organize logistics. Transportation to Ukraine is compensated by the EU humanitarian aid organization.
"Ukrainians are now having an extremely difficult winter because of Russian bombings. Many of them live without heat and electricity. By supplying transformers, cables and other items, we help alleviate this suffering. We have been standing with Ukraine since the beginning of the war. We will continue doing it," Liesje Schreinemacher, Dutch Minister for Foreign Trade and Develment Coeration, stressed.
