Over 1,100 crashes plagued Ukraine’s icy roads today; casualties reported.

In the last day, Ukraine registered 1,164 reports regarding traffic collisions, with 151 involving casualties, encompassing both wounded and deceased individuals. The city of Kyiv accounted for 266 reports, while the Kyiv area registered 146.

As of the day’s commencement, the 102/112 dispatch line documented 1,164 notifications regarding vehicular incidents, with 151 causing injury. Regrettably, these events involved both the wounded and fatalities. The count reached 166 for the city of Kyiv and 146 for the Kyiv province. This was communicated by Oleksiy Biloshitsky, the first deputy head of the Patrol Police Department, as reported by UNN.

Safety along icy roads is under the supervision of patrol officials. We are dedicated to maintaining road safety on snowy pathways, managing vehicular flow, and collaborating with sympathetic citizens and emergency responders to aid motorists facing breakdowns or entrapment in snow drifts.

He mentioned that from the start of the day, until 10:00 p.m., the 102/112 emergency number received reports of vehicular incidents:

  • throughout Ukraine: 1,164 notifications related to traffic accidents, of which 151 concern incidents with casualties. Sadly, these incidents involve injuries and fatalities;
    • within Kyiv: 266 reports, with 15 categorized as traffic accidents resulting in casualties;
      • within the Kyiv province: 146 reports, including 27 incidents of traffic accidents that led to casualties.

        He further stated that adverse weather conditions, including precipitation and black ice, heighten the potential for accidents, reminding drivers that if they find themselves involved in a collision, they have the option to complete a European accident statement, applicable under these provisions:

        • no one has been harmed or killed;
          • no physical damage has befallen third parties;
            • all parties in the incident hold valid insurance policies;
              • a consensus exists among all participants concerning all facets of the incident;
                • The drivers present at the scene of the incident maintain sobriety.

                  In the year 2025, Ukraine witnessed 25,934 recorded traffic incidents resulting in casualties, leading to 3,249 deaths and 31,898 injuries. Common causes include exceeding posted speed limits and infringements on pedestrian crossing regulations.
