Quarantine measures have been introduced in advance, which allows stretching the number of coronavirus cases in time.

Ukraine’s Chief Medical Officer Viktor Liashko has said the Ministry of Health of Ukraine is doing everything possible to ensure flattening of the COVID-19 spread curve.

Answering a question at a Tuesday briefing regarding the peak incidence period expected in Ukraine, he said: “We don’t want a peak in Ukraine. We are doing everything possible so that there is no peak load on the healthcare system,” according to an UNIAN correspondent.

According to Liashko, quarantine measures have been introduced in advance to this end, which allows stretching the number of coronavirus cases in time.

“We have certain forecasts when exactly we can expect a peak, but we are doing everything possible so that this peak or this load on the healthcare system never takes place, and so that we, like Japan, pass it with single cases that our healthcare system will calmly cope with,” he added.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the number of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus in Ukraine had risen to 549 by Tuesday morning.
