Russian war takes 425 Ukrainian children’s lives in Ukraine

As a result of Russia’s full-scale armed aggression toward Ukraine, 425 children have been killed and 815 – injured.

The Prosecutor General's Office reported this on Telegram with reference to data from juvenile prosecutors, Ukrinform reports.

"As of the morning of October 18, 2022, more than 1,240 children were injured in Ukraine as a result of the full-scale armed aggression unleashed by Russia. According to the official information of juvenile prosecutors, 425 children died and more than 815 sustained injuries of various severity," the statement reads.

These data are not final, as work is ongoing to verify reports coming from the active hostility zones, temporarily occupied, and liberated territories.

The largest numbers of children affected were reported in the regions of Donetsk (411), Kharkiv (258), Kyiv (116), Mykaiv (77), Zaporizhia (69), Chernihiv (68), Luhansk (64), Kherson (57), and Dnipretrovsk (31).

As prosecutors were recording the crimes committed by the invaders on the territory of Donetsk region, the body of an 11-year-d boy with signs of vient death was discovered at the burial site in the village of Novoselivka, Kramatorsk district.

The body of a one-year-d infant with signs of vient death was also found at the burial site in Lyman, Donetsk region.

In addition, on October 17, due to enemy shelling of the village of Kostyantynivka, Donetsk region, a 12-year-d girl was injured.

Also yesterday, as a result of shelling by Russian tros, the village of Tavrsk, Zaporizhzhia region, a 12-year-d boy was wounded, and near the village of Dibrova, Izium district, Kharkiv region, a 16-year-d boy stepped on an identified explosive device, sustaining grave injuries.

A total of 2,663 educational facilities were damaged due to Russian bombardment and shelling, of which 326 were completely destroyed.

As reported by Ukrinform, as of early October, about 9,000 cases of civilians going missing have been recorded in Ukraine.
