Ukraine’s government extends coronavirus quarantine until April 24

Ukraine’s Cabinet of Ministers has extended the coronavirus quarantine until April 24.

The decision was passed at a government meeting on Wednesday, March 25, according to an UNIAN correspondent.

“The quarantine is proposed to be extended from April 3 to April 24,” Minister of the Cabinet of Minister Oleh Nemchinov had announced before the Cabinet approved the respective decision.

The Cabinet also enacted a national emergency. “We are proposing that the government, by its decision, introduce an emergency regime throughout the country,” Interior Minister Arsen Avakov had said before the decision was enacted.

Previously an emergency had been declared in certain regions and in the city of Kyiv.

In addition, the state system of civil protection to emergency mode was transferred to the mode of emergency and extended quarantine.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the Cabinet first introduced quarantine across Ukraine from March 12 to April 3 over the spread of the novel COVID-19 coronavirus.
