Ukraine’s Health Minister on worst-case scenario for coronavirus: By analogy with Italy

Over 5,000 people have died from the coronavirus in Italy.

Ukrainian Health Minister Illia Yemets says there could be the worst-case scenario for the coronavirus in Ukraine, which may develop by analogy with Italy.

“One should analyze the worst-case scenario in regard to this problem,” he said on TV Channel 112 Ukraine on March 22.

He says from his experience as a doctor, one should always consider the possibility of events under the worst-case scenario.

“And this scenario [could develop] by analogy with Italy and, let’s see [how it has been going] with Spain. Therefore, the chief medical doctor, my deputy, has estimates for the worst-case scenario,” he said.

Over 5,000 people have died from the coronavirus in Italy.

As of late Sunday, March 22, Ukraine has reported 73 confirmed cases, including three deaths and one recovery.

Yemets earlier said he advocates the introduction of national emergency in Ukraine.
