Ukraine’s Chief Medical Officer reports first cases of domestic spread of coronavirus

As of March 19, Ukraine reported 21 confirmed cases, including three deaths.

Ukraine’s Chief Medical Officer Viktor Liashko has announced that first cases of the domestic spread of the novel coronavirus have been reported in the country.

“Coronavirus disease has entered the country. There are first cases of domestic infections,” he said on television on Thursday evening.

Thus, according to him, quarantine-based measures are aimed at stopping the spread.

The number of suspected cases of coronavirus infection is on the rise in Ukraine, he said.

“Virology labs get more and more samples. Today [March 19], we’ve received 54 samples to test coronavirus suspected cases. We’ve got five positive cases,” he said.

As of March 19, Ukraine reported 21 confirmed cases, including three deaths.
