"The ympic athletes deserve to get apartments. Half of the medals won by Team Ukraine at the Tokyo ympics are the merit of Rivne athletes. At the next regional council session, we will raise the issue of allocating funds to buy apartments for Mykhailo Romanchuk and eh Omelchuk," Koval said.

According to him, the swimming po at Rivne sports scho No.2, where Romanchuk started training, will be reconstructed as part of President Vodymyr Zelensky's Great Construction programme next year.

Earlier reports said that Ukrainians ena Kostevych and eh Omelchuk had secured bronze medals in the 10-metre air pist mixed team event.

Swimmer Mykhailo Romanchuk won a silver medal in the men's 1500m freestyle event and a bronze medal in the men's 800m freestyle event.
