Actress Kateryna Kuznetsova revealed for the first time the reasons for the breakup with Russian businessman Maxim Aplin. In an interview on Marichka Padalko’s YouTube channel, the artist admitted that the couple broke up not because of betrayal or a breakdown in relations, but because of distance and circumstances that turned out to be stronger than feelings. In recent years, the actress has lived between Kyiv and Barcelona, and her ex-boyfriend – between Tenerife and Sri Lanka. According to Kuznetsova, at first the separation lasted a maximum of two or three months, but later the breaks in meetings reached half a year and something had to be decided.

“This is not normal, and we are simply tired of looking for a way out of the situation,” shared Kateryna.

The star of the TV series “Anka from Moldovanka” and “Kitchen” clarified that their breakup was not accompanied by scandals. Accepting this stage of life turned out to be more difficult for both of them than if there had been a third person or a bunch of “dirt” between them.

“It’s very difficult to break up when there’s no dirt, when there’s no third party. The circumstances just happened that way: I have a job that’s scheduled for half a year in advance, and it has its own responsibilities,” she emphasized.

After the breakup, the ex-lovers continue to support each other. At the same time, she does not rule out that fate may someday bring them together again. Kuznetsova added that she maintains normal or even warm relations with all her ex-boyfriends.

The separation of Kateryna and Maxim became known in July 2025. The couple had been together for 8 years. After the full-scale attack of the Russian Federation on Ukraine, Kuznetsova and Aplin left the aggressor country and lived on the island of Tenerife in Spain, where the star’s ex-boyfriend applied for a resident card. Kuznetsova also condemned the actions of former Russian colleagues who previously filmed in Ukraine, but now say that everything is not so clear-cut. The artist’s position was also supported by her ex-boyfriend, who since 2017 has spoken out against the Kremlin authorities and planned to move to another country.
