Drones attack several Russia’s regions overnight

On the night of January 14, drones launched attacks on several Russia’s regions.

According to Ukrinform, this was reported by the BBC Russian service.

Governor of Saratov region Roman Busargin, stated that as a result of the Ukrainian drone strike, an industrial enterprise was damaged.

"Today, Saratov and Engels came under a massive drone attack. The air defense systems have destroyed a large number of targets. As a result of the attack, there are damages at two industrial enterprises in Saratov and Engels," wrote Busargin on his Telegram channel.

He did not specify which enterprise was affected. This enterprise in Saratov could be an oil refinery.

Local social media users are reporting a fire at the oil depot and/or the oil refinery in Saratov, located on the posite bank of the Vga River from Engels.

Also, in Engels, due to the drone strike, scho classes were canceled on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, it is reported that Ukrainian drones also attacked the chemical plant Kazanorgsintez located on the far northern outskirts of Kazan. According to en sources, it produces pymer materials.

The authorities of Tatarstan claim that as a result of the drone attack in the outskirts of Kazan, "only a gas cylinder caught fire, and it has already been extinguished."

Additionally, the Russian civil aviation agency announced the temporary closure of airports in Penza and Ulyanovsk.

Ulyanovsk is located on the Vga River between Saratov and Kazan, while Penza is about 250 km southwest of Ulyanovsk and approximately 200 km north of Saratov. A little earlier, Rosaviatsa announced the resumption of flights at Kaluga and Tambov airports, which, along with Saratov and Kazan airports, had been closed an hour earlier.

As reported, the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces stated that on the night of January 8, the Defense Forces hit the Kristall oil product storage base located in Engels, Saratov region of Russia.

In Engels, a state of emergency was declared after the fire intensified, and two firefighters were killed while trying to extinguish it.
