Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Vitaliy Koval discussed with newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China Ma Shengkun the opening of new markets for exports and the construction of agro-processing enterprises with the introduction of Chinese technologies, the press service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food reported.

"We see potential in mutual trade. For example, over 10 months of this year, agricultural exports from Ukraine to China amounted to $1.250 billion. And imports of agricultural goods from China to Ukraine – more than $220 million," Koval said.

The Minister also noted that another area of cooperation is educational projects in the agricultural sector, where Ukraine is ready to both share experience and adopt new knowledge. According to him, agricultural education is a long-term bridge for cooperation between countries.

During the meeting, the parties agreed on further contacts at the level of ministries, as well as agricultural associations to deepen mutually beneficial cooperation.

As reported, representatives of the State Service on Food Safety and Consumer Protection and the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China (GACC) discussed steps for further cooperation, as well as the opening of new markets for Ukrainian products of plant and animal origin.
