The issue of economic exemption from mobilization remains highly relevant but has shifted from an economic to a political matter. Business associations and entrepreneurs are now willing to accept any model as long as it is adopted and implemented, according to Halyna Yanchenko, Member of Parliament and Chair of the Temporary Special Commission on Investor Rights Protection.
"There have been many discussions regarding models of economic reservation. Frankly, the process has been delayed so much that businesses are ready for any model, just for it to be adopted and start functioning," Yanchenko said in an exclusive interview with Interfax-Ukraine.
She reminded that economic reservation was proposed to prevent enterprise and economic collapse. The idea was to allow business owners to reserve key employees under certain conditions.
Various models were considered, ranging from an additional fee of UAH 20,000 per key employee to requiring an average company salary of UAH 35,000 or more.
"It's unfortunate that this issue has been stalled rather than resolved. We must remember Winston Churchill's saying: 'The military may win battles, but the economy wins wars.' We need to strike a balance between the General Staff's mobilization needs and the country's economic stability. This balance must be accounted for," Yanchenko emphasized.
