Ukraine expects first tranche of macro-financial assistance from EU in Jan 2025 – Zelenskyy

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen on Thursday, December 19.

"We discussed the priorities in the work of the new European Commission and Ukraine's accession to the EU. We separately discussed the use of frozen Russian assets for the needs of Ukraine. Grateful for the new EU macro-financial assistance of EUR 18.1 billion as part of the G7 loan. We expect the first tranche in January 2025," Zelenskyy wrote on his Telegram channel following the meeting.

He also praised von der Leyen's personal efforts to consolidate unity in the EU around Ukraine.

"The joint position of Ukraine and all other European countries is important for bringing a just peace closer," the president emphasized.
