FAO transfers 185 generators, 6,474 grain hoses to Ukrainian farmers in 2024

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has provided Ukrainian farmers with 185 generators and plans to transfer another 65 generators by the end of 2024, Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Vitaliy Koval said during a meeting with the FAO delegation headed by Head of the FAO office in Ukraine Mohammed Azuka.

"Already 1,642 farmers have received 6,474 hoses, each with a capacity of 200 tonnes. A total of 2,550 applications have been submitted. As well as generators for farmers, of which 185 have already been transferred and another 65 generators are planned to be transferred by the end of 2024," the ministry's press service said.

According to the ministry, the parties discussed issues of ensuring international food security, support for Ukrainian farmers, the process of European integration and the development of agricultural diplomacy, as well as the importance of the program for training agricultural attachés, which will contribute to the further renewal of the agricultural sector and the promotion of Ukrainian agricultural products in international markets.

The Ministry of Agrarian Policy said that within the framework of European integration and the implementation of the Strategy for the Development of Agriculture until 2030, Ukrainian farmers need support that would bring them closer to the requirements of the European Union and provide opportunities that farmers will be able to use in the future.

FAO partners confirmed their continued support for Ukrainian farmers and presented a work plan for 2025, which for the first time is designed for a two-year period. It provides for both the short-term needs of Ukrainian farmers and the gradual resumption of agricultural production in 2026.
