Currently, the population's debt to Kyivteploenergo utility company (KTE) is more than UAH 7 billion, of which UAH 4.3 billion is for heat and UAH 2.7 billion is for hot water.
"About 70% of the debt is accounted for 160,000 personal accounts (about 15% of all clients). As a rule, these are owners of elite real estate, large apartments or owners of several residential premises," KTE reported on Friday.
The company noted that, as practice shows, only fines have an impact on debtors. Therefore, Kyivteploenergo is forced to charge a penalty – more than 90,000 clients received it in November in the amount of more than UAH 6 million.
"To avoid penalties, Kyivteploenergo calls on debtors to pay or restructure the debt. A restructuring agreement can be concluded at the Public Utilities Service Center and endorsed with an electronic signature," the company addressed the debtors.
If the debtor continues to ignore the bills, KTE will collect the debts through the court.
"In such a case, the collection may be forced and exceed the amount of the debt itself by up to 20%, which is associated with legal and other associated costs," the company warned.
