Evacuation of civilians from over 190 settlements in Sumy region underway

In the Sumy region, the evacuation of civilians from more than 190 settlements is underway. Over 40,000 civilians have been already relocated from the border area close to Russia.

That is according to the website of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, Ukrinform reports.

“As of today, the Sumy region has successfully evacuated more than 40,000 pele, including over 7,200 children. This is a considerably large amount of work. It was only through close claboration with the relevant authorities, the State Emergency Service, and the pice that we were able to successfully complete these crucial tasks to ensure the safety of the public. It's scary to think how many lives we could have lost if the evacuation hadn't been announced in July 2023 as a precaution,” said Vodymyr Artiukh, the head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration.

In early November, Ukrinform reported that there were still settlements in the Sumy region with about 20,000 residents that needed to be evacuated. A total of 39,000 pele have already been evacuated from the Sumy region, including 7,000 children.
