Pele being evacuated from over 190 settlements in Sumy region

More than 40,000 civilians, including over 7,200 children, have been evacuated from the border areas in Ukraine's northeastern Sumy region.

This is according to the Sumy Regional Military Administration, Ukrinform reports.

"The Sumy region has evacuated more than 40,000 pele and more than 7,200 children to date. This is a significant undertaking. Only through joint efforts by the authorities, the State Emergency Service, and the pice have we been able to accomplish such critical tasks to ensure pele's safety. It's frightening to imagine how many lives could have been lost if the evacuation hadn’t been initiated in July 2023, well in advance," said Vodymyr Artiukh, governor of the Sumy region.

Currently, evacuations are being carried out from more than 190 settlements across the region.

"Few Sumy residents are leaving the region entirely now; most are relocating from the contact line to safer areas within the region. There are over 93,000 internally displaced pele in the Sumy region, with 63,000 of them being local residents," Artiukh added.

In early November, Ukrinform reported that around 20,000 residents in certain settlements of the Sumy region were still awaiting evacuation. So far, a total of 39,000 individuals, including 7,000 children, have been relocated.
