Energy Community after expected appointment of Ukrenergo’s Supervisory Board by Dec 9 to analyze issue of its certification – Kyiv office

The Secretariat of the Energy Community (Energy Community) expects the approval of the Supervisory Board of Ukrenergo by December 9, 2024 and then will analyze whether there are any problems for its certification as an independent transmission system operator, head of its Kyiv office, former head of the Ministry of Energy Oleksiy Orzhel said.

"We have a deadline – December 9, when the Supervisory Board must be approved. Four independent members have already been approved, three representatives from the state are under consideration. The Secretariat of the Energy Community has already given its assessment of the state candidates regarding whether this entity was in other energy companies, whether it has a conflict of interest. We can only give such an assessment. Now it is up to the state to make a decision on the candidates," Orzhel said in a comment to Energy Reform on the sidelines of the Energy Security Dialogue-2024 from DiXi Group in Kyiv on Wednesday.

Orzhel did not specify which candidates the Secretariat of the Energy Community considered and whether they have a conflict of interest, but added that after the approval of the Supervisory Board, he will analyze whether there are any remaining problems with corporate governance in the company, and further consideration of the issue of Ukrenergo certification will depend on this.
