
Law enforcement officers have exposed and stopped the activities of an interregional group that was engaged in drug trafficking in Ukraine. The suspects include residents of Kyiv, Volyn, and Odessa regions.
This was reported by the press services of the National Police and the SBU Department in the Volyn region.
According to the investigation, the illegal business was organized by a 29-year-old resident of Kyiv region. He and his accomplices set up an underground drug laboratory in the Kyiv region. They grew cannabis in a greenhouse with the necessary equipment. A general name that encompasses a number of psychoactive substances obtained from parts of flowering plants of the genus Cannabis. , dried, processed, and prepared for sale.
Law enforcement officers established that for the purpose of conspiracy, the suspects later changed the location and temporarily moved the drug production to Kyiv. According to preliminary data, the monthly income from such activities amounted to about 1 million hryvnia.
“The leader of the group coordinated the activities of the criminal group, provided it with materials and established “reliable” sales channels. Other participants, on his instructions, looked after the plants, processed them, packaged them and transported them to storage locations. In particular, the drugs were stored in garages, apartments and basements belonging to the defendants,” the report says.

It is noted that the defendants sold cannabis in briquettes weighing 600–1,000 grams at a price of 60 to 100 thousand hryvnias, including to various regions of the country and to places of imprisonment.
During a series of searches, law enforcement officers seized over 52 kg of cannabis (estimated value on the “black market” exceeds UAH 5 million), drug manufacturing equipment, drying, grinding and packaging devices, weapons, cash worth over UAH 1 million, bank cards, mobile phones with evidence of illegal activity, etc.

Law enforcement officers detained the organizer and three active members of the group. All those involved were informed of suspicion under Article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal production, manufacture, acquisition, storage, transportation, shipment or sale of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their analogues). The sanction of the article provides for up to twelve years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.
Currently, the issue of choosing preventive measures – detention – is being resolved. Law enforcement officers are identifying other citizens involved in illegal activities.
It was previously reported that law enforcement officers in Kyiv uncovered an extensive network of drug laboratories. According to police, it was organized by two Kyiv residents. Every month, the suspects produced up to 25 kg of amphetamine and LSD. Their value on the shadow market can reach 2.5 million UAH. The manufactured drugs were distributed in the capital and other regions.
The capital's law enforcement officers also reported that they had exposed a group of drug dealers who were selling drugs and psychotropic substances throughout Ukraine. They were sent by mail in packages with chocolate cookies, and also passed from hand to hand. The profit from these sales was about 1.5 million hryvnias per month.
