Details

Preliminary investigations suggest the arrested person was a 17-year-old alumnus of a local vocational institution, recruited by the other side. The Russian Federation exhibited particular interest in the Burshtyn thermal power station.

Acting on the instructions of handlers, the individual under scrutiny performed further surveillance near the power facility. They assessed its operational status post earlier bombardments, snapped pictures of the site’s outer boundaries, and dispatched the amassed details to the Russian secret services.

As determined by the inquiry, the young woman attracted the attention of Russian military intelligence subsequent to posting a job search advertisement on the internet. Following remote recruitment, enticed by promises of “effortless income,” she embarked towards the Burshtynskaya TPP.

To maintain secrecy, the individual initially traveled from the provincial capital via cab, proceeding directly to the power station by foot. On location, she captured both images and footage of the TPP structures, incorporating their geographic coordinates.

It was further ascertained that the agent was examining one of the support substations situated in Ivano-Frankivsk.

SBU counterintelligence officers apprehended her in flagrante delicto near a strategic location. Authorities confiscated a smartphone from the suspect, containing intelligence data and exchanges with the handler. Upon searching her residence, an additional four cellular devices, utilized for intercepting communications, were also confiscated.

Investigators have apprised the girl of the charges against her under Part 2 of Article 111 of Ukraine’s Criminal Code – specifically, high treason perpetrated during a period of martial law.

She is currently detained without bond and potentially faces a decade-long prison term.

Operational actions were executed by SBU personnel within the Ivano-Frankivsk jurisdiction, operating under the legal guidance of the regional public prosecutor’s office.
