They wanted to earn 100 thousand UAH: in Kyiv, law enforcement officers detained two car arsonists

The Pechersk District Prosecutor's Office of Kyiv has reported suspicions to two residents of the Kirovohrad region. They are accused of setting two cars on fire in the capital.

This was reported by the press services of the Main Directorate of the National Police of Kyiv and the city prosecutor's office.

It is noted that in January at around 5:00 a.m., law enforcement received a report that two cars were on fire in Novopecherske Lipki. Police determined that a Porsche Cayenne was set on fire first.

The suspect threw a bottle of flammable liquid at the windshield of a car whose owner lives abroad. Later, another car (a Range Rover) parked nearby also caught fire.

The capital's law enforcement officers identified and searched for the suspects. They turned out to be two men, aged 28 and 41. The suspects explained that they committed the arson on order and expected to receive 100 thousand hryvnias for the “work”.

Investigators informed the defendants of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 194 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (intentional destruction or damage to property). The sanction of the article provides for up to 10 years in prison. Currently, the police are identifying all persons involved in the crime.

Earlier it was reported that two guys suspected of setting fire to military vehicles on behalf of Russian special services were detained in Kyiv. According to the investigation, they were promised up to $15,000 for carrying out sabotage tasks, including setting fire to vehicles and administrative buildings.

Police also detained a 47-year-old Kyiv resident suspected of setting fire to a minibus belonging to a serviceman on behalf of the Russian Federation. The investigation found that after agreeing on the target, the man doused the vehicle with a flammable substance and set it on fire. The fire also damaged two neighboring cars.
