American alpine skier Mikaela Shiffrin won the Small Crystal Globe in slalom at the slalom World Cup in Špindlerův Mlýn, Czech Republic.
Shiffrin was coming into the World Cup in Spindleruv Mlyn on the back of a seven-place slalom podium finish this season. Since the start of the season, the 30-year-old skier has only failed to win gold in one race, finishing second. So, at the Czech Republic, the American could have guaranteed herself the Small Crystal Globe in slalom: she needed to finish seventh to win the title for the ninth time in her career.
