Kyiv law enforcement officers have completed the investigation and submitted to the court the case materials regarding a 48-year-old resident of Chernihiv region. The man is accused of forging a will to inherit an apartment in the Holosiivskyi district of Kyiv worth over two million hryvnias.
This was reported by the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office.
The events take place in 2023. According to investigators, the will of a deceased 78-year-old woman ended up in the hands of fraudsters. They made changes to the official form, according to which a man from Chernihiv region, now a suspect in the scam, supposedly “inherited” the apartment.
With a forged will, he immediately went to a notary and registered ownership of the apartment. After that, the apartment was sold.
“At the same time, the real heir has contacted law enforcement and is trying to get the apartment back,” the police said.
The property is currently under arrest.
The man was charged under Part 3 of Article 358, Part 4 of Article 358, Part 5 of Article 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — forgery of documents and fraud. He faces up to 12 years in prison.
