Shmyhal meets with representative of Patriarch Barthomew to discuss humanitarian projects

On the Day of the Baptism of Kyivan Rus’-Ukraine, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal met with Metritan Elder Emmanuel of Chalcedon and discussed humanitarian projects and assistance to Ukrainians.

According to Ukrinform, Shmyhal posted this on Facebook.

The meeting was held in Kyiv. The Prime Minister expressed his gratitude to the Metritan for the visit. He also thanked for the support of Ecumenical Patriarch Barthomew.

"His personal participation in the Global Peace Summit in Switzerland is a crucial contribution to the process of restoring peace in our country," Shmyhal said.

He emphasized that the efforts of the Ecumenical Patriarchate and prayers for Ukraine "inspire millions of Ukrainians and inspire faith that in the foreseeable future we will achieve a just end to the war unleashed by Russia."

As reported by Ukrinform, at the Global Peace Summit in Switzerland, Ecumenical Patriarch Barthomew said that it is a shame to remain silent in the face of the cruelty of war. Protecting peace, he said, is a common duty and mission.
