Kuleba: Ukraine expects NATO summit to be significant step towards membership

From the NATO summit in Washington, which is to be held on July 9-11, Ukraine expects a "significant step" on the way to membership in the Alliance. 

According to Ukrinform, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said this at a joint press conference in Kyiv with the new Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands, Caspar Veldkamp, Radio Svoboda reports.

"Our expectation from the summit that the set of decisions that will be made there will mean two things: a significant strengthening of our defense capabilities, especially in the field of air defense, and a significant step towards NATO membership. I will st there for now," Kuleba said in response to a question about Kyiv's "maximum program" at the NATO summit, and what the head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry expects from this event.

As reported, the 75th NATO summit will be held in Washington on July 9-11, one of the main issues of which will be military assistance to Ukraine.

 NATO Secretary General Jens Sttenberg expressed he for Ukraine's membership in the North Atlantic Alliance over the next 10 years.
