Consequent to a formal accusation presented by prosecutors from the General Prosecutor’s Office, the court determined that a Ukrainian citizen, who willingly accepted the position of head of the occupation administration of Mariupol and cooperated with the aggressor state, was indeed guilty.

– as stated in the report.

Prior to employment under the occupation regime, the convicted law enforcement figure held various appointments, notably serving as the chief of the Mariupol RUP in the Donetsk region during 2014-2015. Subsequently, between 2018-2020, the individual occupied the mayoral office in Yasynuvata, and later, in 2023, was designated as the “head of the administration of the city of Mariupol of the DPR.”

“The court ascertained that, post the capture of Mariupol, the individual embraced an offer from the Russian occupation forces and, commencing in January 2023, functioned as the so-called “head of the administration of the city of Mariupol of the DPR,” thereby orchestrating and overseeing the operations of unlawfully established governmental institutions within the temporarily occupied territory,” added the UCP.

The verdict was delivered in absentia, owing to the accused’s fugitive status within the occupied zone.

The adjudication comprised a 15-year term of incarceration, inclusive of the confiscation of all private assets, alongside a deprivation of rights to hold positions within both state and local governing bodies for a span of 10 years.
